Self- Discovery Through Portraits
I often felt shy and insecure about approaching people to photograph them. It felt awkward to take portraits of individuals using telephoto lenses without their awareness, though I admit I've done it, but refrained from posting them on social media (unless the picture is a silhouette or cannot be recognized).
It wasn't until I discovered that simply striking up a conversation without being intrusive, while holding a camera, could build the momentum and encouragement needed. This approach often resulted in a silent verbal consent or even a nod, signaling that it was okay to take their photograph, which opened the door for me to start capturing them more comfortably.
