- Amazing Australia
Photography Exhibition: "Amazing Australia" I recently traveled to Sydney, Australia, to attend my very first group exhibition launch organized by Photowalk Global Photography Community , in collaboration with Burwood Council Library . I submitted a photo I had taken a few years back from a seaplane, capturing Whitehaven Beach on the way to the Great Barrier Reef from Brisbane. Out of 850 submissions, my photo was one of the 47 selected to celebrate ‘Amazing Australia.’ Having never participated in an exhibition before, I was unsure of what to expect. However, I felt a sense of welcome as one of the international photographers involved in this event. On the day of the exhibition launching event, my heart raced with excitement and nerves. I worried that my digital image might not look as beautiful in print as it did on my computer screen, and I was anxious about missing the chance to meet the organizers and other photographers. But all my apprehensions vanished as I entered the Burwood Council Library, where the exhibition was held. I was greeted by friendly, calming faces, and then I met Mr. Gaanesh Prasad (GP) , the organizer who had orchestrated the entire project. GP's warmth and kindness made me forget that we had just met. It felt as if I had known him for years. Although I had followed him on Instagram and interacted through likes and comments, meeting such a generous soul in person was a privilege that everyone should seize. Interestingly, what I initially thought would be the highlight of my visit—the exhibition—ultimately took a backseat to the wonderful people I met at the Photowalk Global community and the fellow photographers participating in the event. I formed many friendships and even received congratulations from those who heard about my participation afterward. This experience was truly unique and exactly what I needed for my first exhibition. I feel inspired and motivated, with a renewed sense of confidence in accepting myself as a photographer deserving of future exhibitions. Thanks to Photowalk Global, I now feel better equipped to face the challenges that may come in my photographic journey, even if they become more difficult and less welcoming. Photos There's nothing quite like seeing your work showcased in print. Here are some photos of me with my piece at the inauguration launch event, as well as during a second visit to the exhibition center on another day. Summary Clips I wanted to share a few short videos I captured during the event. The first one features the introduction speech by Gaanesh Prasad. I was recording it on my phone while sitting in the audience when he mentioned me, which completely took me by surprise. It was such a lovely moment, and I wasn’t sure if I should walk to the center of the stage or remain seated. I took a small step forward but quickly returned to my seat, feeling a bit timid. Perhaps in the future, I’ll feel more confident about introducing myself to the group. It’s all about taking it one step at a time. The second video below is a montage I created from my second visit to the exhibition center, where GP graciously met with me again for a casual chat and to discuss more about the exhibition's background. He was so considerate that he arranged for someone at the library to take a souvenir photo of us together, which he then shared on his Instagram page and on mine as well. You can check out the post here . I’d like to conclude my blog by extending a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in organizing and contributing to this event, from Mr. GP himself to the library staff and the print production team. Their dedication and passion truly shone through in this project, making it one of the best-curated and presented exhibitions I have ever attended. Please feel free to like and rate this blog, or share your own exhibition experiences and tips for emerging artists like me in the comments below!
- The Power of Space: What Space Means to Me
Space: How I find meaning in my own through Art. How About you? Poetics of Space "Poetics of Space" is a recent project that was part of a competition, organized by Create! Magazine , inviting contemporary artists to explore the concept of space through art. As the artist behind this project, I took on the challenge and created a compelling and thought-provoking piece that delves into the intricacies of space and its impact on human experience. This project showcases my unique artistic perspective and demonstrates my ability to translate abstract concepts into visually captivating works of art. My interpretation of "Poetics of Space" The concept of "Poetics of Space" within photography inspires a profound exploration of the intricate bond between our environments and the emotions they stir within us. For me, this theme signifies a journey into the depths of perception, where the interplay of light, structure, and fleeting moments converge to create a visual symphony. As a dedicated photographer, my goal extends beyond simple documentation; I strive to encapsulate the essence of a space, transforming it into a visceral experience that resonates with the viewer's psyche. In each photograph I create, I delve into the narrative potential of spaces, revealing how they can convey rich stories and evoke deep feelings. I find inspiration in both the commonplace and the remarkable, aiming to uncover the latent poetry embedded in everyday landscapes and urban settings. By meticulously observing the subtleties of light and shadow, as well as the harmony of composition, I seek to craft images that invite contemplation and foster a sense of connection. Through my lens, I endeavor to present spaces not merely as physical entities, but as profound vessels of memory, emotion, and lived experiences. With a keen focus on framing and detail, I aim to seize those ephemeral moments where the ordinary morphs into the extraordinary. In doing so, I encourage viewers to pause, reflect, and immerse themselves in the poetic narrative that each space offers, allowing them to experience the profound beauty that lies within the world around us. The Theme My narrative revolves around entering an imaginary realm filled with hope, love, openness, and innocence. It’s a space that offers an opportunity for reflection, inviting one to embark on a journey where the path always leads forward. In this world, everything harmonizes, and happiness thrives. The sky dances with melodies among the clouds, while people move purposefully through vibrant spaces, striving together in an expansive landscape shrouded in morning mist. This mist will gradually lift, revealing a breathtaking view that signifies the next stage of their journey. It signified a strong sense of transiting to a new space. Image 2 (Created Feb 2, 2019) Yoyo Universe Small colorful rubber ball in a light box. Added an overlay to add the sun effect. I rotated the photo clockwise 3 times to this portrait mode. It was interesting in every mode but I prefer this one for the sun effect. This is my imaginary universe. Image 3 (Taken June 22, 2024) Otherworldy The image shows a surreal scene with a silhouetted person standing centrally, gazing at a luminous, cascading waterfall-like moving structure on glass screens. The reflective ground beneath matches this scene adding movement and fluidity. Dark, mountainous shapes surround the scene, enhancing the otherworldly, dreamlike atmosphere with dramatic light and shadow contrast. Image taken at Mercer Labs Museum, NYC. Image 4 The Blue Space (Taken June 22, 2024) The innocence, curiosity, and openness of a little girl shine through as she navigates an open three-walled space bathed in bright blue light. Blissfully unaware of any boundaries, she is driven by her adventurous spirit to explore every corner of her vibrant surroundings. Image 5 Light and Reflections (Taken Oct 1, 2017) A couple strolls through a mesmerizing space filled with wonder. The surroundings shift into a realm of light and reflections. I was captivated by the serene, modern aesthetic of the scene and wished to capture the moment forever in Paris, France. Image 6 Coming Together (Taken June 22, 2024) From the remnants of devastation, this place emerged as a symbol of its people’s resilience. It boldly proclaims the people's strength. To me, the scene conveys a blend of unity and hope, reflecting a divided landscape that suggests a future where peace and compassion flourish. It profoundly inspires, stirring visions of a gentler, renewed America. World Trade Center, NY. Image 7 The Way Forward (Taken Oct 6, 2015) A group of individuals donned in traditional hats rows gracefully through the tranquil waters of Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan. I aimed to capture their activity alongside the rippling reflections on the surface, highlighting the broken symmetry created by the standing rower. This overhead shot was taken from a low pedestrian bridge spanning a canal in Japan. To me, this image represents a strong sense of progress, moving forward despite the challenges one encounters in life. Image 8 Symphony In The Clouds (Taken Feb 6, 2024) The image features the modern Palace of Music in Mérida, Mexico. Vertical metal slats curve around the frame, forming a wave-like pattern resembling a guitar. The dramatic sky has scattered clouds and a visible sun, casting shadows that blend nature with modern design. Image 9 The Vanishing Point (Taken Apr 20, 2015) A lengthy tunnel illuminated in vivid red, featuring moving walkways, can be found in a Paris metro station. Individuals are filled with energy as they head toward their destinations, gradually disappearing into the distance that promises to lead them to a new world. Image 10 A Space to Reflect (Taken July 5, 2024) A vast landscape enveloped in morning mist creates a serene space for reflection and learning. As the mist slowly dissipates, it unveils a stunning view that symbolizes the next phase of the journey. I truly hope my visual storytelling about “Poetics of Space” resonates with anyone who views it and inspires them to explore the deeper connections between their surroundings and their inner experiences.
- Inspirational Portraits
Self- Discovery Through Portraits I often felt shy and insecure about approaching people to photograph them. It felt awkward to take portraits of individuals using telephoto lenses without their awareness, though I admit I've done it, but refrained from posting them on social media (unless the picture is a silhouette or cannot be recognized). It wasn't until I discovered that simply striking up a conversation without being intrusive, while holding a camera, could build the momentum and encouragement needed. This approach often resulted in a silent verbal consent or even a nod, signaling that it was okay to take their photograph, which opened the door for me to start capturing them more comfortably. Here are the results of some of those daring moments I welcome your comments offering a different approach that you have used effectively.
